Eye Candy Friday

Happy Friday! I love Trader Joe's. Not only do they have such great food items, but they also have beautiful flowers. Peonies are my absolute favorite flower in the world, but unfortunately here in So. Cal. we can't grow them. I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and picked up this bouquet of gorgeous peonies - it's almost as good as having them grow in my garden. Almost.

This Wacky Weather!

It's hard to believe but a week ago the temperatures were hovering near 100 degrees. Since Thursday, it's been in the 50s and 60s and we even had thunderstorms on Thursday and the Weather Channel says we might get some later this afternoon. The skies are very dark and it looks like it might pour any moment.

I took a short drive up Angeles Crest Highway this afternoon. It was so amazing to see all the yucca plants dotting the mountains. They are very pretty up close and I love their almost buttery-yellow color. The flowers look almost like little bells. The view of Downtown Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley was not very clear, but it was still amazing how far I could see. Not quite to the ocean, but almost. On a clear day...

Thinking of Summer

It has cooled down here about 20 degrees the last two days, but it still has me thinking about summer. I was inspired to create a charm bracelet evoking thoughts of a relaxing summer day. I call this "A Day at the Beach". I will be adding it to my Etsy shop soon. Hope you like it!

Firsts!

This is my first post, my first blog and I'm working on my first sock! After doing some research on Ravelry, I decided on Cookie A.'s "Monkey" pattern. From what people have posted, it is an easy sock for a beginner - I hope so! I chose Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in a colorway that I am really liking. It should go well with a lot of my things in my wardrobe. They're colors I'm drawn to and I'm really liking knitting with it. So far there is no evidence of the dreaded pooling that I've read about. I have four repeats of the lace pattern done (the pattern calls for six) and then it's on to turning the heel and the gusset. I'm a little apprehensive about turning the heel, but I'm hoping it won't be too hard.

I already have two more sock patterns with the yarn lined-up after I finish these! I know that I'm going to be making many, many more pairs!
